Privacy policy

Effective September 26, 2026

This policy describes FolderView for iPhone, provided by Manikanta Reddy under the blue3dot name, and the support website for the app.

At a glance

FolderView does not require an account and contains no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics. We do not operate a server that receives or stores your photo and video library, and we do not sell your personal information.

Folders and media you choose

You grant access to specific folders through Apple's system Files picker. FolderView reads supported media and file metadata in those folders to create thumbnails, organize albums, and display photos and videos. It saves folder access references to reconnect later. It does not have unrestricted access to all files on your device. Original media stays in its existing location; using Favorites does not create a full-resolution copy. FolderView does not scan faces or identify people.

Information stored on your device

The app stores information needed for its features, including folder connections, indexed file metadata, thumbnail caches, album display names, favorite references, and preferences. This information is used for browsing and organizing your selected media and is not sent to developer-operated servers. Cached thumbnails can be recreated from available originals.

Optional iCloud configuration synchronization and backups

If enabled, supported app configuration is synchronized using Apple's iCloud services. This may include album and folder names, favorites, scanning preferences, and related organization metadata. Original photos and videos are not uploaded as part of this configuration sync. Exported configuration backups contain organization information and should be stored or shared with care. Folder access permissions are device-specific and may require reconnection after restoration.

iCloud Drive and other Files providers

Media stored in iCloud Drive or a compatible third-party Files provider remains subject to that provider's storage, download, and privacy practices. Viewing a cloud file can require network access and a download. Apple's services and other providers process information under their own policies. FolderView's lack of a media backend does not mean that cloud-stored files never leave your device.

Photos permission and actions you request

When you choose Save to Photos, FolderView requests add-only Photos access to save the selected media. This does not grant the app access to browse your Photos library. Sharing sends the files you select to the destination you choose. Removing an album only removes its connection and indexed information from FolderView. Deleting media is a separate action that deletes the original file after confirmation.

Support communications

If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you send through our email provider. We use this information to respond, troubleshoot, and handle your request. We keep support correspondence only as needed for these purposes or applicable obligations. You can contact us to request deletion of your support correspondence, subject to any information we must retain. Please avoid sending sensitive personal media.

This website

This support website is hosted by GitHub Pages. We do not add advertising, analytics scripts, or tracking cookies. GitHub may process technical request information, including IP addresses, to operate and secure its hosting service. See GitHub's privacy statement for its practices.

Your choices

You can remove connected albums, manage permissions in iOS, disable optional configuration sync, and manage original files through Files or their storage provider. Disabling sync is not a promise that previously stored cloud configuration has been deleted. Contact us if you need help managing configuration data. FolderView is not a backup service for original media.

Children's privacy

FolderView does not require user profiles or intentionally collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information through support, contact us so we can address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its data practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
